WESSAR NEWSLETTER No. 2
- TWO MORE EXAMINING BOARDS TO JOIN THE PROJECT
- NO DOWNLOADING IN LATEST DEVELOPMENT
- PIANO SIGHT READING NOW TO GRADE EIGHT
FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL TRIP by Managing Director Chris Wiltshire to Australia, where the Wessar was demonstrated to teachers and students in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, the Australian Music Examinations Board has entered discussions with Wessar Ltd with a view to including AMEB sample sight reading tests in the Wessar. Additionally, UK-based Rock School, whose keyboard exams include a sight reading element, are similarly engaged in talks with Wessar management.
IN THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS to come from CPI Electronics, manufacturers of the Wessar, downloading by the customer will no longer be necessary because all of the music will be factory-installed on the device. This means that a teacher or student purchasing a Wessar next year will have immediate access to over 50 volumes of sight reading material – in excess, therefore, of 1500 exam-style pieces! All this as well as the unique eye/brain training which is at the heart of the Wessar concept. Our PR people are suggesting that the present strap line “Sight Reading Simplified” should be changed to “The Total Solution for Sight Reading” – and with good reason!
UNTIL RECENTLY, we have been working on the basis that the Wessar would only deal with piano sight reading up to and including Grade 5. With the advanced software now developed, it will be possible for the Wessar to handle pieces with five or seven beats in a bar and even cope with pieces with changing time signatures. This means that remedial help via the Wessar is at hand for upper grade sight reading strugglers . Of course, for those using a Wessar from Grade 1, the word “struggle” will never have to be used…

Finally, in the next Newsletter, we hope to include a video clip of the Wessar in action.
